GET INVOLVED

 'WASTE WARRIORS'

INITIATIVE

Waste Warriors

Waste Warriors is a primary school competition aimed at reducing the amount of non-organic rubbish we contribute to landfill as a College community.

We are excited to encourage parents and students to think about ways to reduce the amount of waste we are all packing in our lunchboxes. This competition provides an opportunity for younger students to become involved in packing their own lunches (it’s not all on the adults!) and to think about ways we can all reduce our environmental impact.

Over a four week period, SCBC’s very own ‘Waste Warrior’ is conducting surprise visits to Years 3-6 classes. The Warrior and his helpers are rewarding students with a number of stars, according to the degree to which they have minimised waste in their lunchboxes:

  • 0 single-use plastics / packaging: 3 stars

  • 1 single-use plastics / packaging: 2 stars

  • 2 single-use plastics / packaging: 1 star

At the end of the competition, students with the highest scores will win great prizes, including:

  • A trophy and waste free lunch pack (including a bento lunch box, wax wraps and a steel bottle) for the highest scoring student;

  • A free pizza lunch for the top 3 participants; and

  • Novelty prizes for everyone who participates.
